My Question
So I never did get to ask my question in the chat today -- I blame ol' FP.
In any event, here it is: does the AME plan on continuing to cater to NWN1 now that the last patch has been released? Or are there plans to move exclusively to NWN2 stuff (I hope not!)? Just curious.
Also, when are the winners going to be announced?

Re: My Question
As far as I know there has been absolutely no disscussion on eliminating NWN1 from the awards.

Re: My Question
My view is that as long as NWN1 has a substantive community of builders developing for a significant audience of players, that the Academy can and should continue to cover awards for it. I think it is the community, rather than we, who will decide when and if awards for NWN1 are ever to be discontinued. Speaking personally, I don't see it happening anytime within the next two years at the very least. And I certainly don't see it happening next year by any means -- and certainly not after what we've heard about 1.69, and the amazing work that is being done to expand the capabilities of NWN1 even after the final patch is released. I'm even considering delaying my own plans to move to NWN2, so I certainly think that eliminating the NWN1 awards anytime soon would be premature.
I'm in agreement with Sirchet. Although I know that there are partisans who don't agree with me on this, in my view Neverwinter Nights is
both
NWN1 and NWN2. They are different versions of essentially the same game, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. When I say that I'm a member of the NWN community, I mean by that "Both NWN1 and NWN2."

I think we should drop NWN1 and NWN2 and just do World of Warcraft.

Re: My Question
Yes, but QSW is but a mere hatchling, whilst I am a Silver Dragon, admittedly of an unspecified size, but I must be larger!

Re: My Question
What Andarian said is also the viewpoint of the NWN Podcast. If Tony is ok with it I may read his statement in the next podcast. This is a subject we have been talking about as well. Long Live Neverwinter Nights!!

Indeed. That's one of the finest viewpoints I've ever seen here, or on any other forum. It really isn't for us to decide, it's for the fans of NWN. If they supply the demand, then, by the gods, we'll give it to them! It's the least we can do.

Re: My Question
I'm really pleased there are no plans to stop doing the NWN1 GD awards any time soon. I'm still in love with NWN1 sufficiently to hope it and the community keep going for a long while yet....and I certainly see plenty of evidence to support that hope!

Hi Trey,
Thanks! I'd be more than happy to have my comments quoted on the podcast, if you'd like.

Re: My Question
*applies the breaks*
It's not an official statement. As it looks like it now, next year's awards are probably safe (assuming we have enough members). Beyond that it would be an intention only. I don't want to get caught in that whole promise thing just yet...
